Career Research - Informational Interview
In order to gather an inside perspective on this career, I interviewed Mr. Daniel P. Simon, CCP, who is a retired Systems Analyst.
1. Where did you work as a Systems Analyst and for how long?
"I served as a senior systems analyst for Burroughs Corp. for 3 years. I followed that position with 23 years at Northampton Community College." 2. What was your duty as a Systems Analyst? "My duties included studying the current information system and the needs for additional and more efficient production of information for use by management. I needed to assist professionals at the highest levels in the organization to the people that performed at lower levels." |
3. What was your favorite part of the job?
"My favorite part of being a systems analyst was seeing that the desired result was achieved...that our result worked better, faster, and was easier for all people to obtain the desired information that was required." 4. What was your least favorite part of the job? "The least favorite part of being a system analyst is dealing with time constraints. Everything needs to be finished yesterday...sooner...faster. Having top management realize that excellent results are worth doing the project correctly." |
